Goodbye Portland Oregon, a fabulous journey comes to an end!!

Farewell Portland Oregon we had a fabulous time!!

We’ve traveled often to this area however It was our first time landing at the Portland International Airport!! It was fun!! We took a day to check out the sights after visiting family & friends in Washington & Oregon & just loved it!!

Here are a few places we loved that you might want to visit someday 🙂 and some other ideas that we’d like to try too next time we’re in the Pacific Northwest!!

We spent most of our time with family, in Washington state, which was wonderful!! I loved having an additional 4 children, my sweet & adorable nieces and nephews while we were in the area!! Next time we might bring them along on all our excursions too!!

Portland Oregon Excursions

There are so many cool places to visit in Portland Oregon!! A few fun favorites listed online are the Oregon zoo, you can take a Portland city tour, visit Washington park, the International Rose Garden, Art Museum & Portland Japanese Garden tour to name a few places!

Places to visit Outside the city are Multnomah Falls, The Columbia Gorge, Willamette River tour & wine tours, Mt. St Helen’s, & Mt Hood, & other hiking spots along the gorge!! There are also several fun places to shop, that are tax free as well!!

Washington Park

Our first stop was Washington Park!! We loved the park and everything in it! It’s truly a place you can visit for the entire day or return for days!! It encompasses 410acres!! That’s huge!!

In it you can visit the International Rose Garden, zoo, forestry museum, arboretum, Portland Japanese garden, amphitheatre, memorials, archery range, tennis courts, soccer field, picnic areas, playgrounds, public art and many acres of wild forest with miles of trails.

We’ve been to the Zoo here, I love it!! If we had more time, we would have loved to visit all the animals again but we didn’t!! Boo!!

International Rose test Garden

I’ve always heard about the Rose Garden, but have never visited before!! It’s gorgeous!! If you love roses like I do, you’ll love the garden!! My son loved it too!! The best part is, it’s Free!! Yay!!

Portland Japanese Garden

Apparently it’s a close replica of an authentic Japanese garden!! After reading this we decided to pay the entrance fee and it was worth it!! Hey might as well, i don’t think we’ll make it to Japan anytime soon!! It was a lovely experience!! I loved the paradise like feel to parts of it!! The combination of woods, greenery and seeing bonsai trees was fabulous!! Funny how something can be so old but be small and beautiful!! It’s like an old little tree!! Lol!!

So we loved seeing the Portland Japanese gardens, It was so peaceful and serene!! My daughters favorite was the Koi fish, my husbands too!! They were so cute!! I didn’t realize they were a Japanese ornamental type fish!! Very Coool!!! I will be posting a video soon!! I think you’ll Love it!!

So the Japanese Gardens & the International Rose Garden both located inside Washington park are definitely worth the visit!! They are so pretty!!

& for next time I think a tour of portland would be amazing, as well as the art museum and wine tasting in willamette valley!! Yesssss

Another place we visited her was a shopping mall and the Danner store, which I will write about next… also I gotta tell you about a yummy cider tasting in yakima, Washington on another post!! yummy!!
