This is the look of what you buy when you have a sick child, getting back from the doctors and after getting our diagnosis!! Her throat was so bad I had to open the throat lozenzer package before it reached the cashier!! Yes it was that bad, I even lost my head inline and completely forgot the chicken for the soup i’m going to make her… lol!! Im not sure how the cookie dough will work for sores in your throat but its my daughters favorite!! We will see!!
The saying, “this too shall pass” is applicable in this scenario- and this virus!!
Me & my kiddos have endured a lot of sickness and things together like lice, mono, strep throat, and now this, I have to say this is the most monstrous sore throat terror they have experienced!! I’m not looking forward to it being my turn and hopefully I accidently had this before and not known about it! So i wont be able to get it again, apparently its like chickenpox and can only get it once! Ahhh!! Hopefully!!
The only comfort we have is that “this too shall pass” for this illness.. It’s a virus that will last 7-10 days according to my care instructions given to me by urgent care near my home.
Bella’s brutal sores in her mouth brought her to tears for about 2-3 days and I have to be grateful she’s now on the mend!! Yay!! My sons just now enduring the height of his storm with this too!!! With him he had a super high fever of 103.9 and at one time 104. Yikes, poor fella!! He had the same diagnosis as his sister, poor guy!! Hes also on the mend too!! He also has an extreme sore throat but no skin rash!! My daughter even had a sore on one of her eye lids which also was painful and blisters on her hands.
What is HFMD-Hand, Food, and Mouth Disease:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “HFMD is a common virus illness that usually affects infants and children yonder than 5 years old. it can sometimes occur in older children and adults. Typical symptoms of hand, foot and moth disease include fever, mouth sores, and a skin rash.”
“HFMD is caused by viruses that belong to the Enterovirus genus(group) which includes polio viruses coxsackieviruses, echoviruses, and other enteroviruses.”
As was the case with my children, they are both 12 and 8!! Even adults can get this virus too!!
Also Antibiotics do not work for this disease, because it is caused by a virus rather than bacteria. So
Here are my suggestion of what to have on hand;
popsicles: Lots of popsicles
icecream; Lots Of icecream… vanilla and strawberry flavors were our choices..
Gatorade
thermometer
ibuorofen;
fever may get very high.. my sons got to over 103.5 degrees!!
tylenol
netflix, tv, music; to keep your mind off the pain…
soup; for when appetite returns and are able to swallow
honey; if your child is old enough to eat.. proved helpful in soothing little throats..
Naps; take lots of naps to regain strength and help fight against the virus..
baths; help relax cranky and upset and pained child…
School:
At Doctors make sure to get a doctors note to excuse your children’s absence, due to how highly contagious this virus can be.
Soup:
Chicken noodle with lots of vegetables, garlic and onion is another suggestion!! You and the kidddos will appreciate it once sores in mouth are manageable!! Recipe will be on the blog soon!! 10 containters of soup for the family especially my recooperating patients of mine!!
Hope this proves helpful, hang in there if you’re dealing with this.. things will improve 🙂 Hang in there moms!!
