On this post I will cover a long beautiful weekend exploring Italy thru Milan and Rome, an unforgettable adventure sightseeing the elegant streets of Milan to the historic wonders of Rome!! This Trip is packed with architecture, art, culture, delicious food and unforgettable experiences!! I can’t wait to share it all & offer helpful travel tips along the way!!

Ill start off with sharing with you some of the things I feel are absolutely necessary things like an European outlet adapter  to plug in small appliances and charging your phone, neck travel pillow and eye mask for sleeping on the long plane ride! you can find them here; Italy travel essentials    also a good pair of shoes, and either a sweater, and or winter jacket and umbrella!! This was wintertime for them and it was cold, so a winter coat, is essential!!

Milan Highlights

1-Duomo Di Milano:

In the middle of the square you’ll find this breathtaking Cathedral, your eyes enjoying all the intricate details, & sculptures found thruout the exterior! Apparently it took about 600 years to complete this project, it is evident why!! yikes,, this place is massive!!  The square where this quite impressive as many people flock here to not only visit the cathedral but take in the marvels of the Mall, and elegant shops and vendors and street performers!!

2-Gallaria Vittorio Emanuele II

love this especially

Strolling thru one of the worlds oldest shopping malls, filled with luxury boutiques and charming caffes! You’ll find the likes of Louie Vuitton , Prada, and more!! We visited during the day and fell in love with the architecture as well as the storefronts, in the evening an opera was playing in the middle of the open mall!! It was quite impressive and there were alot of people there enjoying it as well!! This is located just steps from Duomo di Milan!!

Rome Highlights

Rome, was absolutely stunning with the Colosseum being as one of the landmarks my husband wanted to visit!! We strolled along the inside pondering the sights and sounds that would have been had at this time when there were gladiator fights.. the second day in Rome we took the red bus hop on, hop tour of the city which we recommend!! It gave us a tour of the entire city which we couldn’t have done without it!! We walked & got off at some of the sites such as the ones listed below 🙂

1-Colosseum: Ancient Ruins of Rome

Just imagine visiting a place where it seems like the study of architecture and design flourished from its builders and artists!  The Colosseum is the largest, most ancient Amphitheater ever built, built in 69-70 AD to 80 AD.. fittiing on average 65,000 spectators!! Built of travertine limestone, tuff(which is  volvanic rock) and brick-faced Roman Concrete!! It is Ginormous and spectacular to see!!

2-Vatican City

The architecture was amazing here, a blend of Renaissance and Baroque architectural styles!! We were highly impressed with the Gold leaf that adorns the interior of this grandiose building!! Its truly amazing to visit this amazing masterpiece of art!!

3-Pantheon

4-Trevi Fountain

So if you’re thinking of visiting Italy, why not visit Milan and Rome!! It’s definitely worth the time and effort to get here!! For me is was apx 14 Hours by plane from Boston USA 🙂 but it was so worth it!!!
We loved visiting most of the landmarks of the area, it was so much fun!!
